Bombay High Court Takes Suo Motu Cognisance of Covid-19 Surge in Prisons - 19.04.2021

Bombay High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the surge in Covid-19 cases in various prisons across Maharashtra based on newspaper reports. The Court has directed the State to provide information on the status of these COVID-19 cases, among staff and prison inmates, the measures taken and proposed to be taken to control the spread of the virus in the prisons, and measures to decongest jails.
