SC Rejects Plea for Release of Illegal Rohingya Refugees Detained in Jammu - 09.04.2021

Supreme Court has rejected a plea for the release of illegal Rohingya Muslims who have been detained in Jammu, and has said that the Union Government could deport them to Myanmar only after scrupulously adhering to procedures prescribed under law. The Court has observed that the right not to be deported is ancilliary to the fundamental right to reside or settle in any part of India guaranteed under Article 19(1)(e) of the Constitution of India, 1949.
