SC Refuses PIL Seeking Restraint on Political Parties from Raising Slogan During Polls - 10.03.2021

Supreme Court has refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation seeking to restrain political parties, more particularly Bharatiya Janta Party, from raising ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan during campaigning for West Bengal assembly polls alleging that it amounted to seeking votes in the name of religion, which is a corrupt electoral practice under Representation of People Act, 1950.
