Madras High Court Directs Election Commission of India to Allot Distinctive Symbols - 09.03.2021

Madras High Court has directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allot distinctive symbols, as far as possible, to the candidates on the fray in the Assembly elections to be held on 6th April, 2021. The direction was issued after a complaint was made to the Court that symbols such as television, laptop and blackboard look similar when they get printed on paper stuck to the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and therefore, such confusion should be avoided.
