Kerala HC: Accused Has No Right to Seek Chemical Analysis of 'B Sample' of Toddy - 24.02.2021

Kerala High Court has held that in cases related to adulteration of toddy, the accused has no legal right to seek the chemical analysis of 'B Sample'. As per Rule 8 of the Kerala Abkari Shops Disposal Rules, 2002, two samples of toddy should be taken in cases of suspected adulteration. The sample labelled 'A' will be forwarded to Chief Chemical Examiner for chemical analysis. The other sample, labelled 'B', will be kept at the office of the Deputy Excise Commissioner.
