SC Agrees to Examine Validity of ‘Love Jihad’ Laws - 07.01.2021

Supreme Court has agreed to examine the validity of ‘love jihad’ laws and ordinances passed by Bharatiya Janta Party-governed states to curb alleged conversion of girls through inter-faith marriages after Public Interest Litigations termed laws “divisive, anti-secular” and importantly, breaching the fundamental right to choose a life partner of one’s choice.
