Madras HC Issues Inquiry Guidelines for Transparent Investigation in Cases of Custodial Deaths - 04.12.2020

Madras High Court has issued a slew of directions for the conduct of inquiry under Section 176(1)(A) of the Code of Criminal procedure, 1973 in cases of unnatural deaths in custody. The Court has observed that every custodial death questions the legitimacy of the State and can be set right only by ensuring transparent investigation.
