Railways take measures to control ticket booking using automated software

The Ministry of Railways has taken measures on its IRCTC website to control ticket booking using automated software. These include a more comprehensive registration system requiring intervention from a human, monitoring time taken to complete the form, and security measures to prevent intrusion and Distributed Denial of Service attacks. The number of tickets booked per year from the website has nearly doubled from over 9 crore bookings in 2010-2011 to over 18 crore in 2014-2015. Over half of all fare-paying passengers who travelled on the Indian Railways booked their tickets online.
