Punjab and Haryana High Court Strikes Down Punjab Action Plan Clauses - 28.01.2020

Punjab and Haryana High Court has struck down Clauses 1 to 3 of The Punjab Action Plan, 2014, which provided summary eviction procedure for eviction from a property or residential building of senior citizens or parents. The Court held that the clauses are ultra vires the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and the Punjab Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2012.
