Supreme Court: Do not Conduct Trials in Undue Haste - 19.12.2019

Supreme Court has ruled while setting aside the order of a trial court which wrapped up proceedings within a fortnight and awarded death sentence to the accused in a rape-cum-murder case of a nine-year-old girl in 2013 that speedy trial was required in criminal matters but it should not be conducted in undue haste without giving reasonable time to the Accused to defend himself.
