Supreme Court of Sri Lanka Orders Rs One Million Compensation for Custodial Killing - 18.12.2019

Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has directed the Government to pay Rs One Million as compensation to the wife of a man who was killed by police in a fake encounter. The Court further observed that even a convicted criminal has a right not to be arbitrarily deprived of his life except in accordance with procedure established by law.
