Karnataka High Court: Rape Victim not Entitled to Compensation if She Turned Hostile During Trial - 01.10.2019

Karnataka High Court has rejected a petition filed by a rape victim seeking compensation under the victim compensation scheme as she turned hostile during the trial and the Accused was acquitted. The Court further observed that it was clear on a perusal of the relevant clauses of the Karnataka Victim Compensation Scheme, 2007 that the victim has to cooperate with the prosecution and that the complaint filed by her should not be fabricated.
