Kerala High Court: Deposit of Minimum 20% Fine or Compensation Under Section 148 NI Act Necessary - 16.08.2019

Kerala High Court has ruled that there is no scope for exercise of discretion under Section 148 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 which empowers the Appellate Court to direct the Accused to deposit minimum of 20 percent of ‘fine’ or ‘compensation’ awarded by the lower Court.
