SC Issues Notice on PIL for Steps Taken Under Mental Health Act, 2017 to Restrain Child Suicides - 05.08.2019

Supreme Court has issued notice to the Central and the State Governments on a public interest litigation raising the issue of increasing number of child suicides in the country. The PIL prays for a direction from the Central and the State Governments to implement a public health programme for the prevention and reduction of suicides as provided under Sections 29 and 115 of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017.
