Rajasthan High Court Rules Benami Amendment Act, 2016 Cannot be Enforced Retrospectively - 26.07.2019

Rajasthan High Court has ruled that Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 cannot have retrospective effect. Under the amended law which came into effect from November 1, 2016, tax officers going after benami deals check whether the official owner on whose name a property, land, or any asset is registered is also the real owner.
