Independent Directors in PSUs

Minister of Corporate Affairs, Arun Jaitley, stated in a reply to Parliament that the appointment of independent directors on the boards of public sector undertakings was commented upon by Department of Public Enterprises in the following: non-official directors are appointed for three years; vacant positions are to be filled expediently; and the Department receives proposals from the relevant ministry to appointments to such vacancies.
