Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case: SC Says Centre Has 'Primacy' in Release, Not State - 02.12.2015

SC has ruled that “States have no power to unilaterally remit sentences even under a state law if the case had been investigated by a central investigative agency”. The ruling came in reference to remission of life imprisonment of seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
