Investment by Foreign Portfolio Investors in Corporate Bonds

MANU/APDR/0090/2015

The Reserve Bank of India has permitted Foreign Portfolio Investors to acquire NCDs/bonds which are under partial or full default of repayment of principal. The revised maturity period of such instruments, restructured on negotiation, should be three years or more. However, investment will be limited to the overall limit prescribed for corporate debt, and existing conditions for investment by FPIs will apply.
