Draft Regulations to address informal broadcast agreements

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released draft Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable Services) Interconnection (Digital Addressable Cable Television Systems) (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2015 to address disputes arising between broadcasters of TV channels, Multi System Operators and Local Cable Operators. In efforts to reduce disruption to consumers due to abrupt disconnection of broadcasts at one or more links in the delivery chain, the Regulations provide means of mutual negotiations between the parties after broadcast/reception agreements have expired.
