Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Amendment Rules, 2015

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has notified Rules to amend the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2012, pertaining to investigation of accidents and attribution of blame. Some notable changes are the inclusion of ‘contributory factors’, which play a role in the in the incident occurring; however, identification of such factors does not imply an assignment of fault or legal liability. The Rules, 2015 also mandate the creation and maintenance of an accident and serious incident database to be maintained by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.
