Telecom companies to compensate for dropped calls from 2016

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India introduced the Telecom Consumers Protection (Ninth Amendment) Regulations, 2015 amending the Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations, 2012. The new Regulations will come in force from 1 January, 2016 and address the all too common ‘dropped call’. Post 1 January, 2016, cellular service providers will have to credit their customers’ accounts with one rupee each time a call is dropped, up to a maximum of three rupees per day.
