Road Ministry releases Advisory on licensing and operating ‘app-based’ taxi services

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways released an Advisory for operation of ‘app-based’ taxi services. It provides licensing of ‘on-demand transportation technology aggregators’, requirements for drivers and vehicles operating under such schemes, and generally outlines systems for passenger safety. The exact ramifications of such an Advisory are unclear, however it should provide a template on which courts, and belatedly, governments may choose to base their policies for internet-based taxi service providers.
