Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement reached - 05.10.2015

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement between North American countries and those in South-east and Far-east Asia was reached on 5 October, 2015. The Agreement offers lowered tariffs and greater cooperation in commercial matters, such as intellectual property and labour laws. The Agreement is seen as quintessential to the United States bolstering its presence in Asia, given China’s rising influence in the region, in particular its widely-subscribed-to Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
