Not water under the bridge: anticipatory bail for misappropriation of funds denied

In a case where the Appellants were accused of misappropriating public funds by granting a construction contract to a non-existent contractor, the Supreme Court upheld the order of cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to the Appellants. It considered the bona fide allegations, a stalled investigation and the seriousness of the charges leveled in cancelling anticipatory bail. The judges pointed out the peculiarity that upon grant of bail to the Appellants, it was not the State rather a complainant on whose application the High Court had first interfered.
