Essar’s petition for trial with other 2G scam accused dismissed

The Supreme Court, dismissing Essar’s plea to be tried with other accused in the 2G scam, held that a Penal code offence could not be tried with a Prevention of Corruption Act offence. It also confirmed that the Special Court was empowered to hear all matters arising out of the 2G scam.
