Delhi HC: Govt Cannot Fix Speed Limit Below Prescribed Statutory Speed Limit - 18.09.2020
Delhi High Court has struck down the state government’s 2018 notification laying down a speed limit of 40km/hour for a category of transport vehicles registered after October 2015. The Court has held that the State government cannot fix a speed limit for vehicles, which varies from the prescribed speed under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 2015 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

SEBI Modifies NAV Rules for Mutual Funds - 18.09.2020
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has asked mutual funds to uniformly apply net asset value (NAV) across schemes upon realisation of funds. The Board has also tightened rules on the processes that fund managers follow to buy shares. The new rules will become effective from 1st January, 2021.

SC: Period for Filing Plea for Enforcement of Foreign Award is Under Article 137 of Limitation Act - 17.09.2020
Supreme Court has held that the period of limitation for filing a Petition for enforcement of a foreign award under Sections 47 and 49 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, would be governed by Article 137 of the Limitation Act, 1963 which prescribes a period of three years from when the right to apply accrues.

SC Junks Police Closure Report on the Mysterious Death of NLU-J Student - 17.09.2020
Supreme Court has junked the closure report filed by Rajasthan police in the investigation into the mysterious death of Vikrant Nagaichm who was a 3rd-year law student of the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU-J) and has ordered a new investigation in the case by a fresh team, which is to be completed within a period of two months.

SC: Enforcement Court May Refuse Enforcement of Foreign Award, Cannot Set Aside or Correct - 17.09.2020
Supreme Court has observed that though enforcement Courts may refuse enforcement of a foreign award, if the conditions contained in Section 48 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 are made out, but it cannot set aside or correct a foreign award, even if such conditions are made out.

SC Backs Vedanta on Rs 3500 Crores Arbitration Award - 17.09.2020
