SC: No Lapse of Proceedings Under Old Act if Compensation is Deposited in Treasury - 06.03.2020
Supreme Court has held that proceedings under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 will not lapse if the compensation has been tendered by deposit in treasury. The Court further held that land owners cannot insist that the amount should be deposited in Court so as to sustain the land acquisition proceedings under the old Act on the commencement of the new land acquisition law with effect from 1st January, 2014.

SC: RTI Cannot be Invoked to Get Information from Court Regarding Any Case - 05.03.2020
Supreme Court has held that a person cannot invoke the Right to Information Act, 2005 to get details of a case, which can be disclosed only as per rules framed by the High Court. The Court further stated that the information held by the High Court on the judicial side is personal information of litigants.
