National Companies Law Appellate Tribunal Removes Strictures on ROC in Tata Sons’ Case - 03.01.2020

National Companies Law Appellate Tribunal has removed strictures against the Registrar of Companies, Mumbai, from its order that ruled that Tata Sons’ conversion from public to private entity was illegal and directed the Registrar to reverse the same. The Tribunal has also sought clarifications from the Registrar on what constitutes a private company.

Gujarat High Court: Divorced Woman Cannot Seek Monetary Relief from Ex-Husband - 03.01.2020

Gujarat High Court has observed that a woman once divorced cannot seek monetary relief from her former husband under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. The Court while quashing the proceedings noted that the wife would be an aggrieved person under the 2005 Act so long as the domestic relationship survives. As soon as it is snapped, it is an end to their domestic relationship and she would not be an aggrieved person then.

Bombay High Court: Set Up Complaint Boxes in Every Civic School - 03.01.2020

Bombay High Court has recommended to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to set up complaint boxes in each of its schools to tackle the problems pertaining to lack of drinking water and toilet facilities. The High Court said that students could be made to write the complaints.

Kerala High Court Upholds Decision to Set Up Gas Crematorium - 03.01.2020

Bombay High Court Permits Adoption of 22 Yr Old Girl Sought by 66 Yr-Old 'Guardian' Who Raised Her - 03.01.2020

Bombay High Court has allowed an adoption petition by a 66 year old man who sought adoption of a 22 year old girl who raised her. The Court further noted that the 22 year old girl was well integrated into her guardian’s family and was an inextricable part of the same. Further she was eagerly awaiting legal recognition of her status as her guardian’s daughter.

Telangana High Court has Stayed Debt Recovery Tribunal’s Order Against Karvy Stock Broking - 02.01.2020

Telangana High Court has given interim relief to Karvy Stock Broking against ICICI Bank’s plea for initiating debt recovery proceedings against the broking house.
